Swimming: Angola Wins Two Bronze Medals at African Zone IV Championships

Luanda: Swimmers Rhanya Santo and Beatriz Scott placed Angola on the podium at the Zone IV African Championships in Botswana, each winning a bronze medal on the first day of the competition held in Gaborone. Rhanya Santo's bronze medal was won in the 800m freestyle, with a time of 10:02.69, while Beatriz Scott's bronze medal was won in the 50m breaststroke, with a time of 38.70, according to the report released Thursday by the Angolan Swimming Federation (FAN). According to Angola Press News Agency,The opening day was demanding and tiring for the athletes, due to the cold weather in the city of Gaborone, which significantly impacted the swimmers' endurance and recovery capacity, as well as difficulties in maintaining a competitive pace throughout the races. The coaching staff, led by Artur Henrique, said that aside from the weather, more was expected from the athletes, with a more consistent performance, since the individual results were not satisfactory.
