Luanda: At least 35 million transactions, totaling 590 billion kwanzas, were processed through the KWiK instant payment system in 2025, marking over 100 percent growth in volume and value compared to 2024.
According to Angola Press News Agency, the remarkable growth was highlighted during the 7th Ordinary Session of the Coordination Committee of the National Financial Inclusion Strategy (CCENIF), led by Minister of State for Economic Coordination Jos© de Lima Massano. The data underscored KWiK's pivotal role in the modernization of the Angolan Payment System and its contribution to financial inclusion.
The CCENIF press release emphasized that KWiK's expansion is critical to achieving the National Financial Inclusion Strategy (ENIF) 2025-2027 objectives. These goals include broadening access to digital financial services, enhancing interoperability between institutions, and lowering costs for consumers.
KWiK's technological advancements feature a variety of functionalities, including payments and purchases via QR code, service payments, state payments, and merchant management through automated teller machines. Presently, 22 financial institutions, encompassing both banking and non-banking sectors, are integrated into the KWiK ecosystem.
Developed by EMIS in collaboration with the National Bank of Angola, KWiK represents an innovative instant payment tool in the region. It enables users to send money and make payments instantly, 24/7. The platform supports transactions between different banks and mobile wallets, offering a seamless experience.
The platform allows for immediate transfers via mobile applications or wallets without requiring users to visit a bank. It simplifies fund receipt by linking an identifier, such as a mobile phone number or email address, to an account. Moreover, KWiK is compatible with all banks and payment service providers in Angola.
