Cunene: The Vice-Governor for the Political, Social and Economic sector of Cunene province, Apolo Ndinoulenga, highlighted the importance of the 2nd edition of the technology forum as a pillar of technological innovation and digital governance. The event, which coincides with World Information Society Day, aims to strengthen connectivity infrastructures and foster a modern, inclusive, and competitive society.

According to Angola Press News Agency, the forum serves as a strategic platform for dialogue, reflection, and knowledge sharing on the catalytic role of information and communication technologies in sustainable development and digital transformation in the province. The Vice-Governor emphasized the importance of inclusion, security, and sustainability in building a more connected and modern province, prepared to meet current challenges and seize future opportunities.

Ndinoulenga also emphasized the role of technology in transforming education and health by overcoming geographical, social, and structural barriers to ensure greater access to services for the population. He called for the mastery of ICTs in solving environmental problems such as climate monitoring and the sustainable management of natural resources, which are critical for a province facing challenges from climate change, including droughts, floods, and desertification.

He further highlighted the need to address cybercrime, explore the opportunities and challenges posed by artificial intelligence, improve services, and strengthen institutional capacity while considering regulation, ethics, and the protection of fundamental rights. Topics to be discussed at the event include innovation management in the public sector, challenges and perspectives, and the Internet of Things as a tool for transparency, administrative efficiency, and improving citizen access to public services.

The director of the Cunene Registry and Administrative Modernization Office, Pel¡gio Pukulukeni, noted that the event aims to mark World Information Society Day, also known as World Internet Day, celebrated on May 17. Pukulukeni stated that the objective is to promote administrative modernization through strategic use of ICTs to enhance efficiency, transparency, and accessibility of public services.

The event, held under the motto "Cunene on the path of digital transformation, innovation and technology," runs concurrently with ExpoTIC 2026 and features 12 exhibitors from public and private institutions. The forum includes participation from magistrates of the judiciary, Public Prosecutor's Office, government members, ecclesiastical authorities, academics, and students.

World Information Society Day, established at the 2005 United Nations General Assembly in Tunisia, aims to raise awareness about the impact of the internet and ICTs on societies and the potential of new technologies in users' lives.
