Over 20,000 Counterfeit US Dollars Seized in Huambo

Huambo: The Criminal Investigation Service (SIC) has successfully stopped the circulation of 20,700 counterfeit US dollars in the provincial market of Huambo, as revealed by SIC spokesperson Chief Inspector Azevedo Bento.

According to Angola Press News Agency, the operation was part of a broader effort targeting key drug trafficking hotspots, which also resulted in the seizure of 150 units of cocaine. Six individuals have been apprehended in connection with these activities.

In the past 15 days, National Police officers have managed to recover various stolen items, including 10 vehicles, eight motorcycles, seven firearms, 17 rounds of ammunition, six electronic vehicle license plates, and 10 cell phones. These efforts have been crucial in curbing crime in the region.

Bento further reported that 40 crimes have been solved, including a double homicide that occurred on September 24 in the Macolocolo neighborhood on the outskirts of Huambo City. Additionally, four criminal organizations, comprising 21 individuals, have been dismantled, leading to multiple arrests.
