Luanda: At least 245 young people have secured their first jobs in the municipality of Lubango, Huíla province, during the first half of this year, marking an increase of 158 from the same period in 2025. According to Angola Press News Agency, Joo Filipe Caio, head of the Training Section of the Lubango Employment Center, disclosed that 87 of these jobs resulted from direct offers to the institution, while 58 were obtained following professional internships. The increase in job placements is attributed to a strengthened partnership with the business sector. The Employment Center received 980 job applicants in the first half of the year, with 391 of them being women. Of the 87 job offers received, 63 were for men, predominantly in the secondary and tertiary sectors. During the reviewed period, 32 employment contracts were terminated, involving 19 men and 13 women, mainly in construction and transport sectors. Causes for termination included job abandonment, dismissal for just cause, and litigation. To boo st job placement opportunities, the Employment Center is enhancing its efforts in prospecting companies and referring candidates based on their professional profiles. The greatest demand for the center's services is from young people aged 14 to 40, who often seek administrative roles despite available vacancies in technical professions. The Lubango Employment Center currently has 300 companies registered with the National Institute of Employment and Vocational Training (INEFOP). This registration aims to strengthen business prospecting efforts to increase job opportunities and professional internships.
