Luanda: The National Agency for Petroleum, Gas and Biofuels (ANPG), in collaboration with Sonangol Exploration and Production and other partners, has announced the successful completion of drilling operations at the PAC 416 oil well. The well is situated in the southwest compartment of the Pacassa field in Block 3/05, located in the Lower Congo Basin, which is one of Angola's main oil exploration regions.
According to Angola Press News Agency, the well was drilled from the PAC F4 platform, reaching a measured depth of 5,381 meters and a vertical depth of 3,600 meters. The drilling operations crossed two productive intervals in the Pacassa and Buffalo reservoirs. The results showed a liquid oil column approximately 100 meters deep within high-quality reservoirs, featuring an average porosity of 12% and water saturation of 10%, which underscores the productive potential of the field.
The National Agency for Petroleum, Gas and Biofuels noted that the successful completion of PAC 416 marks a significant milestone in the development of Block 3/05. This development program aims to enhance production capacity and extend the productive lifespan of its assets. PAC 416 is part of a drilling campaign that includes three infill wells, which are additional wells drilled between existing ones in a producing field, scheduled for 2026. This initiative aligns with Sonangol Explora§o e Produ§o's strategy to sustainably increase production.
The contractor group for Block 3/05 includes Sonangol Explora§o e Produ§o, holding 36% of the participating interest, Afentra with 30%, Maurel and Prom at 20%, Etu Energias with 10%, and Nis-Naftgas holding 4%.
