Luanda: Over 5,000 National Police officers are mobilized to secure the 5th edition of the Angolan Municipalities and Cities Fair taking place in Benguela from August 7th to 10th, ANGOP learned on Thursday. In an exclusive statement to ANGOP, the provincial commander of the National Police in Benguela, Commissioner Arist³fanes dos Santos, said that, although the first delegations will begin arriving next week, measures are already underway to ensure maximum security during the event.
According to Angola Press News Agency, securing event venues and accommodations for organizations and vendors is already a reality. The commissioner revealed that 350 delegations and more than 25,000 people are expected, including organizations and vendors from all municipalities in Angola. In the same vein, Arist³fanes dos Santos stated that security is also guaranteed for caravans that begin to travel through Benguela province by land and air.
The commander believes it will be a large-scale operation, with ten days of numerous security challenges, similar to those encountered during former US President Joe Biden's visit to Benguela. Regarding security measures at the event venue, he reported that a command post will be set up on-site and another forward, with a designated commander. The delegate said there is another security plan that involves hotels, referral hospitals, the waterfront, and not to mention the situation of vehicles, whose strategies will contribute to the success of the event.
