PASSENGER BOATS START TRAVELLING BETWEEN CABINDA AND SOYO THIS YEAR

Luanda – Sécil Marítima S.A plans to start commercial passenger transport, between the cities of Cabinda and Soyo, as of the last quarter of this year, said the acting chairman of the board of directors of the company, João Martins.

Speaking to ANGOP about the service along the Angolan coast, the official said that it was a preliminary solution, contained in an ongoing programme, to meet the demand and the concerns of the population about the availability of transport.

“The start of operations is conditioned to docking (general repairs) of the ships, catamarans and the Cabinda ferryboat (mixed cargo and passenger transport), as well as the conclusion of work on the passenger terminals and technical and technological equipment,” he said.

At this time, he said, four catamarans and one Ferrrboat are available and since June two vessels have been docked for about 60 days for renewal of the hull, painting, overhaul of engines and generators, and general technological and functional aspects.
