Petro de Luanda Secures Spot in African Basketball League

Luanda: Petro de Luanda's senior men's team has secured its place in the 6th edition of the African Basketball League (BAL) by clinching the National championship title. The decisive victory came on Thursday when they defeated 1º de Agosto with a commanding score of 105-75 in the fifth game of the playoff finals, which follows a best-of-seven format.

According to Angola Press News Agency, Petro de Luanda, the current holder of the continental trophy, is set to travel to Pretoria, South Africa, on Tuesday for the final tournament. This event will be held from June 6 to 14. Impressively, Petro de Luanda is the only team from Angola to have participated in all editions of the BAL, a competition jointly organized by the NBA and FIBA.

In 2021, the team was in third place, in 2022, it occupied the second position, and in 2023 it fell to fourth place, and in 2024 it won the unprecedented title of the Basketball Africa League.
