Petro play BAL in Nile conference

Luanda – Angola’s Petro de Luanda have been included in the Nile conference of the third edition of the African Basketball League (BAL), to be played from April 26 to May 6.

According to the draw held on Monday, the Angolan champions are to play in the Nile conference based in Cairo city, Egypt.

This is the second time in a row that the draw has placed the Angolans in that conference.

Petro de Luanda, runners-up in the competition, will face the hosts Egypt’s Al Haly City Oilers (Uganda), Cape Town Tigers (South Africa), Ferroviário da Beira (Mozambique) and Slac (Guinea).

In the Sahara Conference to take place in Dakar (Senegal) from February 11 to May 21, the teams are Abidjan BC – (Côte d’Ivoire), Kwara Falons – (Nigeria), Stade Malien – (Mali), AS Douanes – (Senegal), REG – (Rwanda) and US Monastir – (Tunisia).

The top four teams from each conference qualify for the final phase.

In the first edition of the competition held in 2021, Petro de Luanda finished third after beating Rwanda’s Patriots 97-68.

In 2022, Petro lost to US Monastir 72-83 in the final.
