Plastic artist Álvaro Macieira exhibits “Kutala Africa”

Luanda – An exhibition called “Kutala África – See Africa” by the plastic artist Álvaro Macieira was opened this Wednesday, at the Centro Cultural Brasil Angola, in Luanda, to mark Africa Day (25 May).

The exhibition includes 20 works, between old and new paintings, worked with acrylic on canvas, which mostly portray the culture and history of Angola and all of Africa, with bright color tones.

Speaking to ANGOP, the artist said the title of the exhibition “Kutala África”, which in the national Kimbundu language means “See Africa”, aims to portray the fusion of masks, sculptures and utilitarian goods of the land that the ancestors worshiped and still alive today.

The paintings will be on display until the 12th of June.

Álvaro Macieira is a journalist, writer, artist and cultural consultant. He was born on May 13, 1958, in the village of Sanza-Pombo, in the province of Uíge.
