Pointe-Noire Official Highlights Angola as Regional Model for Governance

Pointe-noire: Angola's political stability and economic growth prospects position the Sub-Saharan nation as a strategic model for the region, the mayor of Congo's Pointe-Noire department, Pierre Cebert Ibocko-Onangha, said on Monday. Speaking to reporters following the opening ceremony for Angola's National Hero's Day commemorations, Ibocko-Onangha highlighted Angola's current constitution as a benchmark for governance and political stability in Central Africa. According to Angola Press News Agency, the Congolese official also commended Luanda's diplomatic role under President Joo Lourenço during his tenure leading the African Union. He noted that Angola strengthened its position as a hub for regional conflict mediation, political coordination, and infrastructure integration. In addition, Ibocko-Onangha pointed to structural reforms intended to diversify Angola's oil-dependent economy, specifically targeting investment in agriculture, logistics, and the blue economy. "There is no doubt that Angola is a mode l to be followed regarding development in different sectors in Sub-Saharan Africa," Ibocko-Onangha said. Relations between Angola and the Republic of Congo remain rooted in historical ties and neighborly cooperation, he added.
