Police Authorities in Namibe Concerned About Illegal Firearm Possession

Luanda: Police authorities in Namibe are expressing concern over the illegal possession of firearms in the region. José Lolina, spokesperson of the Criminal Investigation Service in Namibe, on Monday urged citizens holding firearms unlawfully to surrender them to the authorities voluntarily. According to Angola Press News Agency, Lolina addressed the media during the presentation of a 49-year-old citizen from Namibe who was arrested for making threats with a firearm in Bibala municipality. He highlighted that a significant number of individuals in the province's interior hold firearms illegally, predominantly for hunting activities. Lolina further noted that the National Police in Namibe have documented over 20 criminal incidents, which include robberies, thefts, and bodily harm. The authorities are keen on reducing these occurrences and believe that controlling the illegal possession of firearms is a crucial step in achieving this goal.
