Uíge – Migration and Foreigners Service (SME) have recommended strictness in the inspection of border zones to halt the illegal entry of foreigners into the country.
The recommendation emerged from a SME Technical Meeting held Friday in northern Uige province, which gathered representatives from the provinces of Uige and Cuanza Norte.
The SME in Uíge repatriated in 2021, 391 citizens from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), due to illegal entry and stay in the country, there was an increase of 240 citizens compared to 2020.
The meeting also recommended the implementation of a resident card for citizens living in border areas. Tipping off the police about the illegal immigrants, are also among other measures to combat this phenomenon.
Speaking to the press, the provincial director of the SME in Uíge, commissioner Sebastião Francisco Teles, said that the meeting will allow better inspection on border between Uige and Cuanza Norte provinces.
