Luanda: The health authorities in the province of Uíge are set to immunize a total of 680,000 children under the age of five against polio during the 3rd phase of the vaccination campaign scheduled for 21, 22, and 23 August. According to Angola Press News Agency, more than 640,000 children were successfully immunized in the province during the 2nd phase of the polio vaccination campaign. Lindeza Chaves, head of the Provincial Department of Public Health in Uíge, shared insights into the preparations for this crucial campaign, which will be launched on Thursday, the 20th, in the municipality of Uíge. To execute the campaign effectively, health authorities have organized 1,145 teams, each comprising three members. These teams will conduct door-to-door vaccinations to ensure all targeted children are reached. Lindeza Chaves emphasized the significant role of traditional and religious leaders, along with other community actors, in mobilizing families and communities to participate in the campaign. Social mobi lization efforts are actively being developed, involving community leadership and other stakeholders in communication and information dissemination. The official urged for the cooperation of parents, guardians, and community structures to support the teams' efforts throughout the three-day campaign.
