Key sectors discussed included the economy, employment and vocational training, and agriculture, highlighted by recent visits from Portuguese government officials to Angola.

The ambassador noted that more than 1,200 Portuguese businesses are currently operating in Angola across various sectors, which he sees as a testament to Portugal's confidence in Angola's economic development and diversification. Mathias expressed Portugal's continued interest in supporting Angola's growth across all areas.

Cultural cooperation also featured in the discussions, particularly the 40th anniversary of the Portuguese School of Luanda, an event the ambassador participated in. This highlights the ongoing cultural ties between the two countries, which have sustained diplomatic relations since 1976.

The bilateral relationship is supported by multiple legal frameworks and the 2023-2027 Strategic Cooperation Programme, covering education, vocational training, justice, defence, infrastructure, agriculture, and investment promotion. The ambassador views the extensive cooperation and frequent exchanges as vital to confidence in Angola's economic progress.
