Portugal’s Foreign minister arrives in Angola

Luanda – Portugal’s minister of Foreign Affairs João Gomes Cravinho arrived Tuesday in Angolan capital, Luanda, for a two-day visit to Angola aimed to strengthen bilateral relations.

This is the first official visit of João Gomes Cravinho as Portugal’s minister of Foreign Affairs, with a symbolic and practical dimension for strengthening cooperation between the two countries.

At Luanda’s “4 de Fevereiro” International Airport”, the Portuguese top diplomat was welcomed by the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Esmeralda Mendonça.

The visit takes place at a time when Angola is betting on re-launching the economy after two years conditioned by the Covide-19 pandemic.

The visit is also described as an opportunity for the creation of new projects and the strengthening of existing initiatives involving the two countries.

Minister João Gomes Cravinho’s first official trip abroad takes place in a member country of the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP), two weeks after he came in office.
