Prenda Hospital Performs 255 Dialysis Sessions Per Day in Luanda

Luanda: Prenda Hospital, located in Luanda, is conducting an average of 250 to 255 dialysis sessions daily, positioning itself as a key facility for kidney failure treatment in Angola. According to Angola Press News Agency, the hospital's director-general, Tomás Cassinda, emphasized that the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of urinary system diseases, particularly kidney-related ailments, are central to the hospital's strategic objectives. Dialysis serves as a critical medical intervention, cleansing the blood of waste, toxins, salt, and excess water when the kidneys fail to function adequately. Cassinda highlighted nephrology as one of the chronic non-communicable diseases exerting significant pressure on health services. He noted that Prenda Hospital, as a specialized medical-surgical unit, is adept at understanding the epidemiological profile of its patients, which facilitates effective planning, especially during peak demand periods. The director-general further mentioned that in 2025, the hospital bolstered its supply of medicines and consumables to ensure the uninterrupted provision of treatments, including dialysis. This enhancement also aimed to address various health issues such as trauma, strokes, infectious diseases, and hypoglycemia linked to food and alcohol poisoning.
