Luanda – Angola president João Lourenço on Friday appointed Manuel Francisco Pedro as CEO of the Luanda/Bengo Special Economic Zone, the Presidency’s Press Office has announced.
João Lourenço sacked António Henriques da Silva as ZEE’s CEO and Álvaro da Cunha Cândido Santos as Executive Director of the ZEE , having appointed Adriano Celso dos Santos Vaz Borja as executive director of the Special Economic Zone, states the source in a note reached Angop Friday.
The Luanda-Bengo Special Economic Zone (ZEE) is a physically demarcated space that includes a perimeter with an area of 4,717.91 hectares reserved for industrial occupation, making it the biggest space in Angola for implementation of industrial projects.
It includes a commercial hub, housing projects, services and other investments, being a zone with plenty of resources to boost the Angolan economy.
The Zone was created in 2009 by the Angolan State, and given the need for its inclusion in the new local dynamization strategy, it was resized through Presidential Decree No. 81/21 of 8 April.
Its main objective is to promote national production, attract private investment (national and foreign), create employment and contribute to the diversification of the economy.
The ZEE undertakings cover productive sectors such as dairy products, pasta and other foodstuffs (including wheat flour, semolina flour, sausages, biscuits and cold meats), detergents, clothing, plastic utensils, thermoelectric power station and electrical devices, steelworks, construction materials and the operation of automobile inspection centres.
