Luanda – The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, on Saturday invited the member states of the Community of Portuguese-speaking Countries (CPLP) to participate in the 2nd edition of the Pan-African Forum for the Culture of Peace – Biennial of Luanda.
The invitation to the event, to be held from 4 to 8 October, in partnership with UNESCO and the African Union, was made at the close of the 13th Conference of Heads of State and Government of CPLP.
The Luanda Peace Biennial will mark the 40th anniversary of the International Day of Peace.
João Lourenço noted that the CPLP’s activity was not restricted to economic issues and recognised that the organisation had taken significant steps in other areas of cooperation, particularly in the promotion of the Portuguese language, in political concert and on the cultural front.
The Acting President of the CPLP considered mobility decisive, for a greater rapprochement between the peoples of the organization, with a view to economic cooperation, the enrichment of the Portuguese language and for a greater cultural and touristic exchange.
In his intervention, the Angolan statesman expressed the solidarity of the member states with the people of Mozambique, for the suffering caused by the actions of terrorism, which seriously affected the province of Cabo Delgado.
