President João Lourenço and Félix Tshisekedi analyse DRC situation

Luanda – Angolan Head of State, João Lourenço met Monday with his counterpart from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Félix Tshisekedi, with whom he analyzed the political-military situation in the east of this country.

The meeting between the two Statesmen also served to exchange views on strengthening bilateral cooperation and address current regional and international issues.

Félix Tshisekedi made a few-hour technical stopover in the Angolan capital, bound for South Africa.

Angola and DRC, both members of the Southern Africa Development Community (SADC) and of the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (ICGLR) , have maintained high-level contacts on issues related to peace, stability and security in the region.

The Angolan Head of State, João Lourenço assumes the rotating presidency of ICGLR, an organization created with the aim of resolving issues of peace and security in the region.

João Lourenço has been the mediator in charge of the DRC – Rwanda conflict issue, mandated by the African Union.
