President Joo Louren§o Mourns Victims of Cabo Ledo Road Accident

Luanda: Angolan President Joo Louren§o on Monday expressed his dismay at the death of 12 people in the road accident that occurred on Sunday in Cabo Ledo, Icolo e Bengo province. In a message of condolence released following the tragedy, the Angolan Head of State expresses concern and sadness for the accident, which once again brings grief to several Angolan families.

According to Angola Press News Agency, the President recalls that the country is still recovering from another accident that recently occurred in the province of Cuanza-Sul, also with a high number of victims. Joo Louren§o joins in the suffering of the affected families and, on his own behalf and on behalf of the Executive, expresses solidarity with all those who lost family members and with the 32 injured in the incident.

He assures the availability of multidisciplinary assistance to the victims, mobilized through the Angolan Ministry of Health. In the same message, the President appeals for prudence and responsibility in road driving, in order to reduce accidents and preserve lives on the country's roads.

He emphasizes that roads should represent progress and development for Angola and not instruments of death and destruction. The accident occurred around 5:00 am, near Sangano beach, when a bus from the Macon transport company, coming from the city of Lubango, Huila province, veered off the road and overturned with 42 occupants. The passengers were leaving the VI National Meeting for Reflection on the Quality of Nursing and Education, held in Lubango.
