President Joo Louren§o Returns to Luanda After Strategic Visit to Mavinga

Luanda: The President of the Republic, Joo Louren§o, returned to Luanda after a brief but significant visit to Mavinga in Cuando province. The visit marked his first trip following the recent institutionalization of the province under the New Political and Administrative Division.

According to Angola Press News Agency, President Louren§o engaged with local government members to discuss critical social and economic issues, aiming to enhance the region's development. A key decision from the visit was to accelerate the construction of the Cuito Cuanavale/Mavinga/Rivungo road, stretching approximately 200 kilometers. This infrastructure project is essential for improving connectivity and fostering regional growth.

President Louren§o also addressed the local population, highlighting the identification of a new route for the Cuito Cuanavale/Mavinga segment. The previous route was deemed unsuitable due to its proximity to water sources that hindered transportation. Demining operations have been completed, and construction is set to commence with renewed vigor.

The President announced that a presidential decree would be signed to authorize additional funding, expediting the road project's completion. He emphasized that the road's development will significantly benefit Mavinga and the entire Cuando province, improving access to health, housing, employment, and communication.

The visit also included meetings with local leaders from the Kingdoms of Mavinga, Cuito Cuanavale, Dirico, and Rivungo, as well as religious figures. Additionally, goods and vehicles were delivered to the provincial government, further supporting regional development initiatives.
