Luanda: The acts of awards of different national and foreign individualities, within the framework of the celebrations of the 50th anniversary of National Independence resumed on Saturday under the guidance of the President of the Republic, Joo Lourenço. This is the 4th ceremony of attributing honorary distinctions, which began on Friday, which includes a total of 670 honorees, recognized for its relevant contribution to the independence, preservation of peace, and promoting the country's development. According to Angola Press News Agency, by imperatives of logistics organization, decorations have been carried out in successive phases, with several calendar ceremonies throughout the festive period. At this stage, 187 citizens were distinguished with the Independence Class Medal, while 483 received the Peace and Development Class Medal, in a clear statement of the state's recognition by the merit, patriotism, and dedication of the honorees. The first ceremony, held on April 4, included 247 personalities. In the second phase, distinctions were attributed to 697 individualities. In the third ceremony, 654 citizens were awarded, 155 with the Independence Class Medal and 499 with the Peace and Development Class Medal. The decorations are inscribed in the celebrations of the Jubilee of the 50 years of national independence, which is marked on November 11, and aim to honor figures that, over the last five decades, have stood out for their historical achievements, a spirit of surrender, and patriotic contribution to the national cause. The acts of recognition and valorization of citizens will continue during the festivities of independence, an initiative to exalt the collective memory and affirmation of the values of sovereignty, unity, and progress of the nation.
