Luanda: Angolan President Joo Louren§o held a telephone conversation on Friday with the Head of State of France, Emmanuel Macron, focused on deepening cooperation. This information is contained in a note from the Presidency of the Republic made public today.
According to Angola Press News Agency, cooperation between Angola and France marks 50 years of diplomatic relations this year, in a context of strengthening the bilateral strategic partnership centered on the political, economic, energy, agricultural, and cultural domains. Political cooperation includes the consolidation of a mechanism for regular consultations and the strengthening of collaboration on matters of security and internal order, with a focus on regional and international stability.
In the economic and agricultural domain, the partnership foresees French support estimated at 100 million euros for the development of agriculture in Angola, as well as initiatives related to biodiversity and the energy transition, sectors considered priorities on the bilateral agenda. The energy sector remains one of the central pillars of cooperation, with the historical presence of French companies in the Angolan oil sector and the intention to deepen collaboration in renewable energies and sustainable solutions.
In the field of education and culture, the two countries have ongoing cooperation programs with higher education institutions, notably the Agostinho Neto University, in addition to scholarship programs that benefit around 950 young Angolans and actions to promote the French language.
