President Kais Saied meets World Bank Vice-President for MENA

President Kais Saied met with World Bank Vice President for Middle East and North Africa Affairs, Ferid Belhaj on Tuesday at the Carthage Palace,.

The meeting tackled Tunisia’s relations with the World Bank Group and the projects that were previously funded by the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the International Finance Corporation, in particular in the social field, like the construction of educational institutions in general.

The President of the Republic also stressed that the state cannot abandon its social role, pointing out that in order to deal with many issues today, it is necessary to formulate new concepts taking into account, mainly, the role of the state in providing basic human rights, includng health, education, social security and others.

The President said the State should eliminate the social inequalities that have arisen in recent decades and that have worsened the economic and social crisis.
