Luanda: The President of the Republic, Joo Lourenço, accepted the request for resignation submitted by the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court and the Superior Council of the Judiciary, Joel Leonardo, for health reasons. According to Angola Press News Agency, the judge sent a formal communication to the Head of State, in which he expressed his decision to leave the position he had been holding. In light of the reasons given, the President of the Republic agreed to the request, under the terms presented. Joel Leonardo, who had held the position since 2019, justified his departure on health grounds, which, according to the statement, prevent him from continuing his work as head of the highest body of the judiciary.
