President rejects cult of personality, sycophancy

Luanda – The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, Thursday rejected the cult of personality and flattery, which he considered harmful to the current situation in the country.

In a press conference granted to five national and foreign media outlets, the President of the Republic stressed that in recent times he has been fighting the personality cult and flattery with concrete acts and not only with speeches.

“The cult of personality and flattery are harmful,” he noted.

Forthcoming General elections

The Angolan Head of State assured that the general elections will take place in August this year, stressing that there was no way of not holding the elections, because the Constitution of the Republic requires it.

He also said that the opportunity to win the Elections is equal to all the contestants.

Government flagship – diversification of the economy

The President of the Republic clarified that the flag of his government is not the fight against corruption, but the diversification of the economy.

During the press conference, President Lourenço also indicated that the Government has negotiated a credit line with the German Bank in order to exclusively serve the private sector, noting that this credit line is available for three years.

He noted that the only company that had benefited from this credit line, in the amount of 200 million euros, was Leonel Carrinho, adding that 800 million was still available.

In relation to Omatapalo, he said it was a national and large company that is carrying out large public works contracts.

“It has built the new Dom Alexandre do Nascimento Cardio-Respiratory Hospital Complex,” in Luanda, he expressed.
