President Saied discusses irregular migration and anti-drug efforts with Interior Minister and security officials

President Kais Saied met on Monday afternoon at the Carthage Palace with Minister of the Interior, Kamel Feki, Director General of National Security, Mourad Saidane, and Director General and Commander of the National Guard, Hassine Gharbi.

The meeting focused on efforts to combat the phenomenon of irregular migration in a number of Tunisian cities, particularly the dismantling of the criminal networks behind it, according to a statement from the presidency.

The President reiterated the need to continue securing the perimeters of schools and to fight decisively against the phenomenon of drug trafficking. “Just as some sides target state security, those who promote drugs among young people target the security of society,” he was quoted as saying in the same statement.

On the other hand, the importance of continuing joint field operations between various state agencies to eliminate monopolistic practices and unlawful speculation was addressed.

The President of the Republic gave instructions to continue operations to eliminate all manifestations of illegal street vending. He also also stressed the need for local communities to assume their responsibilities in carrying out large-scale cleaning operations and preserving the environment.
