Manga: The President of Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traor©, outlined on Saturday in Manga, in the Centre-South region, his vision of development based on the training of human resources and the processing of local raw materials. "It is dangerous to produce without processing local raw materials," the head of state told the region's key players.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the President emphasized the significance of processing local cotton into products like yarn and medical cotton, highlighting the current practice of importing compresses that could otherwise be produced domestically. He noted that while cotton is purchased at about 200 CFA francs per kilogram, its value increases significantly after processing.
Captain Traor© stressed the importance of vocational training as a critical factor in maintaining and creating machinery for raw material processing. He announced plans for setting up several laboratories and technical rooms to enhance training opportunities for the population. He further revealed that Burkinabe technicians are being trained to manufacture agricultural equipment, and women and young people will be identified and equipped to aid in the country's industrialization efforts.
In his address, the President also mentioned plans to establish an industrial zone in each region of Burkina Faso, tailored to the locality's specific characteristics to minimize production costs. The discussions also covered the importance of improving infrastructure, with the President assuring that the "Faso Mªbo" initiative will equip each region with a road construction brigade by 2026, allowing them to recruit their own personnel for local road projects.
Captain Traor© asserted the potential of the Burkinabe people to achieve great things, emphasizing the need to break free from colonial mentalities. He encouraged self-confidence and audacity as key components for progress.
On the subject of water resources, the President announced plans to construct dams and drill over 1,000 meters deep to secure sustainable water access. Additionally, existing reservoirs will be cleaned and expanded to boost agricultural production, as pledged by Captain Ibrahim Traor©.
