Luanda: The National Electoral Commission (CNE) will swear in the presidents of the 21 Provincial Electoral Commissions on Tuesday, in a ceremony to be held at the institution's headquarters in Luanda. The ceremony will be led by the president of the CNE, Manuel Pereira da Silva.
According to Angola Press News Agency, the investiture of the new provincial leaders is part of the process of strengthening the country's electoral structure, within the framework of preparations for the 2027 general elections. The provincial commissions are part of the structure of the National Electoral Commission, an independent constitutional body responsible for the organization, coordination, execution, and conduct of electoral processes and referendums in Angola.
Among the CNE's responsibilities are the oversight of the electoral process, the dissemination of results, and the promotion of civic education, with a view to strengthening citizen participation in the country's democratic life. The institution is composed of a collegiate body comprised of representatives from political parties with parliamentary seats and a judicial magistrate, who serves as president.
