Havana: The Angolan Embassy to Cuba has opened a book of condolences in honor of Ambassador Carlos de Lemos Sardinha Dias, who died on Sunday in Panama City at the age of 64, after a long illness.
According to Angola Press News Agency, diplomats, local recruitment staff, and the Angolan community residing in Cuba expressed deep sorrow and dismay at the passing of the head of the Angolan diplomatic mission in Havana. The embassy's press release highlighted the professional career of Carlos Sardinha Dias, noting his significant contributions to Angolan diplomacy and international cooperation.
Before leading the mission in Cuba, Carlos Sardinha Dias served as Director of International Cooperation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and undertook missions at Angolan embassies in the United Arab Emirates and Singapore. His diplomatic service extended beyond Cuba, representing Angola in Nicaragua, the Dominican Republic, El Salvador, and Guatemala, with plans to present credentials in Haiti, Honduras, Panama, and Costa Rica.
Carlos de Lemos Sardinha Dias, a native of Cuanza Sul province, joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1983. He was known for his professionalism, commitment to state affairs, and dedication to national interests. The Angolan Embassy in Cuba extends its condolences to his family, friends, and members of the Angolan diplomatic corps.
