PRS leader deems creation of joint parliamentary group timely

Luanda – The Whip of the Social Renewal Party (PRS) and National Liberation Front of Angola (FNLA) Joint Parliamentary Bench, Benedito Daniel, on Monday in Luanda said the creation of this platform was a timely measure that will serve, among other things, to put the projects of both parties in the Parliament.

He was speaking to the press at the end of an audience with the Speaker of the National Assembly, Carolina Cerqueira, which served to address internal issues of the “house of laws”.

The politician stated that the main advantage of the joint parliamentary bench is the possibility of submitting a bill to the National Assembly, thus carrying the claims of the parties and their militants, with incalculable gains.

Benedito Daniel who is also theleader of the Social Renewal Party (PRS), also said that the meeting was also an opportunity for the group to congratulate the Speaker of the National Assembly, Carolina Cerqueira, on her election to the post, as well as find out specifics about the organisation of the parliament and put forward some concerns.

The Social Renewal Party (PRS) and the National Liberation Front of Angola (FNLA) had to get together to form a parliamentary bench, since they did not obtain the minimum of three deputies in this year’s (24 August) general elections.

From the 220 deputies to the National Assembly, 124 are from the MPLA and 90 from UNITA, while PRS, FNLA and the Humanist Party of Angola (PHA) have two MP´s each, resulting from the last general elections.
