Public Health Plans Major Polio Vaccination Campaign for Over 160,000 Children in Moxico

Luanda: More than 160,000 children under five years of age will be vaccinated against polio in the second half of this month in the province of Moxico.

According to Angola Press News Agency, the Provincial Supervisor for Health Promotion, Ermelinda Cambango, stated that the vaccination rounds are scheduled for the first half of August and the second half of September this year.

She elaborated that preparations, such as training and logistics, are being set up across the province's 12 municipalities. The process will be managed by a team of 1,304 agents, which includes supervisors, vaccinators, mobilizers, drivers, and other personnel.

A total of 184,630 doses of the vaccine are available to be administered to the targeted children during the three-day campaign, with additional days allocated for recap. By November 2024, the polio vaccination program had already immunized 156,417 children in the region.
