Manama, The Rotary Club of Manama (RCM) hosted in its weekly meeting Bahraini Chef Tala Bashmi, who shared her experience in the field of fine cooking with the attendees during the online meeting.
RCM President Osama Almoayed welcomed Bashmi and praised her active role in the culinary field, which was remarkably evident during her participation in the popular TV show “Top Chef” in its Arabic version, where she won second place among other contending chefs from across the Arab world.
Bashmi took the attendees on a journey about the beginnings of her career and her culinary talent, which she discovered in earlier stages of her life and decided to start her career by refining it through training and studying in the field of culinary arts, mentioning that she joined an academy in Europe after which she obtained a Master’s degree in international business administration in the field of culinary management.
She explained that her career began with the launch of a project specialising in preparing sweets, which received great approval and good reputation in the Kingdom, and earned her great experience in this field before she began studying and specialising in it.
She noted that her participation in Top Chef gave her confidence and courage to continue the success she achieved by partaking in competitions and providing a competitive performance that blends with creative abilities and skills.
Bashmi emphasized that Bahraini women are capable of competing and occupying leadership positions in various fields.
Chef Bashmi has won many awards throughout her career and participated in the Bahrain Chef Team in the Dubai Cooking Competition in 2014, and the Red Card Competition in 2017, in which she won second place, in addition to winning the Best Female Chef Award in the Middle East and North Africa region.
She founded Fusions by Tala Restaurant at the Gulf Hotel, becoming the first Bahraini chef to open a restaurant in a five-star hotel, where the menu offers Bahraini and oriental dishes in a modern and innovative style.
