SADC Council Congratulates Angola on Joining Regional Free Trade Area

Antananarivo: The Council of Ministers of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) has extended congratulations to the Angolan government for its accession to the regional bloc's Free Trade Area (FTA). The council pledged its unwavering support to Angola in executing its responsibilities effectively within the FTA.

According to Angola Press News Agency, the announcement was made by the Minister of Planning, Victor Hugo Guilherme, at the conclusion of the SADC Council of Ministers meeting. This meeting serves as a precursor to the 45th Summit of SADC Heads of State and Government, which is slated to occur on the 17th in the Malagasy capital.

The SADC Council of Ministers also emphasized the importance of facilitating the movement of people and goods within the southern region. The meeting further addressed ongoing conflicts that have impacted the financial contributions of member states to the regional organization. Minister Guilherme noted that some member states are facing financial challenges in meeting their statutory obligations.
