Santa Rita de Cássia do Uíge beat 1º de Agosto

Uíge – Santa Rita de Cássia do Uíge beat 1º de Agosto, 0-1, in a match of the 17th round, which took place Saturday in Uíge Province at the 4 de Fevereiro Stadium and due to that the latter lost the chance to consolidate the championship’s lead.

Before this defeat, 1º de Agosto were sharing the lead of Girabola2022/23 with Petro de Luanda, with 35 points.

Meanwhile, the Petro de Luanda match was postponed due to the team’s involvement in the group stage of the Champions League, where they drew Saturday with Algeria´s JS Kabile in a goalless draw at the 11 Novembro Stadium.

Coached by Filipe Nzanza, 1º de Agosto, who beat FC Bravos do Maquis, 2-1 in the previous round, this Saturday failed to win, conceding the only goal in the 80th minute.

This is Santa Rita de Cássia´s first win against 1.º de Agosto, in nine matches, with a balance of seven defeats and one draw, so the team remain in the sixth place with 26 points.

STATEMENTS

Santa Rita de Cassia´s assistant coach Ngoma Rafael valued the study done to 1º Agosto before and during the match, which resulted in a difficult but well achieved victory.

Ngoma Rafael promised to work harder to beat Petro de Luanda next week in a match of the 17th round.

On his turn, the head coach of 1.º de Agosto, Filipe Nzanza, recognised the potential of the opponent, who fought well in the match, despite regretting an alleged move that would give a penalty to his team.

Santa Rita, who play next Tuesday, 14, in Luanda, for the conclusion of the 17th round of Girabola, will host Académica do Lobito for the 19th round, while 1.º de Agosto will host Desportivo da Lunda Sul.
