Tunis: Secretary of State to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians Abroad, Mounir Ben Rjiba, participated at the request of the President of the Republic in the international conference on "Emergency Humanitarian Response in Gaza" held on Tuesday at the Dead Sea in Jordan. The conference discussed ways to address the humanitarian catastrophe in the Gaza Strip through logistical and operational measures and procedures for the immediate, expanded, safe and unhindered entry of aid within the framework of the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 2720, according to a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In his speech at the conference, the Secretary of State highlighted the crimes against humanity and genocidal war that Palestinian civilians in the Occupied Palestinian Territories have been subjected to for the past eight months, which the brutal occupation forces and their settler gangs continue to perpetrate in both the Gaza Strip and the West Bank. He also stres sed the need for the international community to assume its political, legal and moral responsibilities and end its unjustified hesitation by putting an end to the horrendous crimes committed by the occupying entity, including the recent attack on the Nuseirat refugee camp. He also urged to compel the occupier to immediately and definitively stop its brutal aggression, to comply with UN resolutions, to expedite the provision of all necessary guarantees for the protection of the Palestinian people, and to force the reopening of all crossings, especially the Rafah crossing, to allow the entry of relief and humanitarian aid without any restrictions or conditions. The Foreign Minister reiterated Tunisia's position of full support for the Palestinian people and their struggle to regain their legitimate historical rights to establish an independent and sovereign state on all their territories with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital. In the margins of the conference, the Secretary of State held talks with a number of heads of delegations from participating countries and international and regional organisations. He also met with members of the Tunisian community living in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan at the residence of the Tunisian ambassador in Amman, where he was briefed on the living conditions of the Tunisian community and listened to their concerns. He underlined the special care given to Tunisians abroad. He stressed the keenness of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians Abroad to improve the quality of services provided by diplomatic and consular missions abroad, and reviewed in this context the various initiatives to modernise consular services provided to members of the community. In this regard, Ben Rjiba called on members of the Tunisian community living in Jordan to participate fully in the National Forum of Tunisian experts abroad that the Ministry is planning to organise this summer, and to contribute to enriching its activities and results. He stressed the importance of the Tunisian community's role in supporting national development efforts and its role in promoting Tunisia's image abroad. Source: Agence Tunis Afrique Presse
