Mbanza Kongo: A 25-year-old Angolan citizen was sentenced Wednesday to 14 years in prison by the Mbanza Kongo District Court, northern Zaire province, for sexual abuse of two minors aged 13 and 15.
According to Angola Press News Agency, the individual identified as lvaro Tuyindula Vandunem was found guilty of intercepting the victims in September 2024. The minors were leaving a colleague's house in search of a school textbook when they were threatened with a knife and taken to an uninhabited house where the offenses occurred.
The court proceedings revealed that Vandunem, under the influence of drugs, committed the sexual acts for three hours, as stated by the presiding judge, Tiago Gouveia, in a session that attracted significant public attention.
In addition to the prison sentence, Vandunem is required to pay 100,000 kwanzas in court fees and one million kwanzas in compensation to the victims.
In a related case, the Mbanza Kongo District Court also sentenced Pedro Joo Tim³teo to five years in prison for the sexual abuse of a minor under 14 years of age.
