Luanda: Seven agreements, including agreements in principle, risk service, reforestation, and decarbonisation, were signed in Luanda on Wednesday between the national concessionaire, the state-owned oil company, and global sector leaders. The legal instruments were formalised on the first day of the 7th edition of the Angola Oil and Gas International Conference and Exhibition (AOG 2026).
According to Angola Press News Agency, the first agreement was a risk service agreement signed between the National Oil, Gas and Biofuels Agency (ANPG), oil companies Shell and Equinor, and Sonangol, covering blocks 19, 34, and 35. ANPG, Shell, QatarEnergy, and Sonangol also formalised an agreement defining the terms and conditions for the risk service contract covering the concession areas of blocks 8 and 22. This partnership marks QatarEnergy's return to Angola.
Another service contract brought together ANPG, Chevron, Shell, and state-owned oil company Sonangol for the concession areas of blocks 33, 24, and 35. In the area of reforestation, the agreement was signed by ANPG, the Government of Moxico, Chevron, and the National Institute for Environmental Management (INGA). The initiative aims to reduce emissions, create jobs, and promote economic development in Moxico.
Meanwhile, Sonangol and TotalEnergies strengthened cooperation on decarbonisation, while ANPG, TotalEnergies, ExxonMobil, and Sonangol established an agreement in principle. The conference enters its final day today, with further agreements due to be signed and discussions on topics including Angola's gas economy, security of supply and refining, financing for national companies, local content, onshore exploration, artificial intelligence, and mature assets, among others.
