SNJT condemns assaults on journalists in Sudan

The National Union of Tunisian Journalists (SNJT) expressed full solidarity with journalists and media representatives in Sudan who “face unprecedented dangers, when exercising their profession,” referring particularly to the coverage of armed fighting in Khartoum which broke out on April 15.

The SNJT also condemned “the attacks targeting media outlets in Sudan.”

17 staff and journalists working for the Sudan News Agency (SUNA) “had been stuck in their workplace for the third consecutive day,” the Union said in a statement Monday.

Five other journalists from foreign TV channels of «AlHurra» and «Russia Today» are also stranded in their workplace, in poor conditions, without water or any provision.»

The Sudanese capital has been the scene of violent armed clashes between the Sudanese army and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) since Saturday, April 15.
