Luanda: The Angolan state oil company Sonangol clinched the prestigious "Golden Lion" Grand Prix at the 41st Edition of the Luanda International Fair (FILDA), held in the Special Economic Zone (ZEE) in the province of Icolo and Bengo. The event, which concludes on Sunday, marked a significant achievement for Sonangol at Angola's largest business hub. According to Angola Press News Agency, the award ceremony took place on Saturday night at a hotel in Luanda during the annual "Golden Lions Gala." This event honors companies, institutions, and services that excel at the fair. In addition to the Grand Prix, Sonangol also received a diploma from the event's promoter, highlighting their outstanding participation. The organizers recognized excellence in several categories, including "Best participation of public entities and institutions," "Brand representation and identity," and "Best participation in public services and public utility." The fair also awarded categories like "Best participation in trade and servi ces," "Best participation in graphic industry, paper packaging," and "Best participation in food and beverages," among others. Sonangol's Director of Communication and Image, Dionísio Rocha Júnior, expressed pride in winning the Golden Lion, especially in a year marking the company's 50th anniversary and 41 years of participation in FILDA. He emphasized the importance of FILDA in Sonangol's growth and success in international endeavors. At the fair, Sonangol showcased its business chain with a stand, along with three additional stands from the business group. In total, 26 categories were awarded. The Angola Central Bank (BNA) won "Best participation of public entities and institutions" and "Brand representation and identity." The Ministry of the Interior secured "Best participation in public services and public utility," while ICC Angola and Personalize company won in the trade and services and graphic industry categories, respectively. Other notable winners included Grupo Carrinho for food and beverages, G rupo Boa Vida for civil construction, and Valência for furniture and decorations. Additional awards were distributed to ENSA for insurance, Quintas dos Jugais for "Made in Angola," Ferpinta for agriculture, and Probeauty for health and well-being. Acquacorp, Euroaustral, Vecauto, and Nova Cimangola were recognized for their contributions to energy, transport, machinery, and industry categories, respectively. The fair's organizers also acknowledged the Cabinda Refinery for oil and gas, Unitel for telecommunications, BDA Bank for financial services, China for international participation, and Edeme Angola for brand activation. Further recognition went to Grupo Cosal for light vehicles, BAI Bank for banking services, Standard Bank for environmental technology, and Visit Angola for tourism. The 41st Edition of FILDA, which began on the 21st of the current month, hosted 2,348 exhibitors, both national and foreign. Industry led participation with 34% of exhibitors, spanning food and beverage, manufacturing, extra ctive, and other industrial activities. Under the theme "Produce and innovate locally, succeed globally," FILDA 2026 continues to promote national production, innovation, and investment attraction in Angola.
