Luanda: The municipalities of Cangumbe and Lutuai, in Moxico province, have initiated continuous voter registration with the launch of their One-Stop Public Service Counters (BUAP), a government source informed in Luena. The inauguration was led by the municipal administrators of Cangumbe, Arminda António, and Lutuai, CSndido Celestino, who both updated their voter registration details to mark the occasion. According to Angola Press News Agency, the start of these services means that continuous voter registration is active in nine out of the 12 municipalities in Moxico province. The remaining municipalities yet to begin this process are Alto Cuito, Ninda, and Chiúme. Moisés Cambembe, the provincial director of Registries and Administrative Modernization, has emphasized the need to enhance the initiative in Luena by establishing additional service points and deploying mobile teams to address the vastness of the province. Cambembe highlighted that the expansive nature of Moxico requires mobile brigades to ens ure widespread access to the continuous voter registration process, allowing more citizens to benefit from this service. He mentioned that this proposal has been presented to the National Directorate for Continuous Voter Registration within the Ministry of Territorial Administration (MAT), advocating for an increase in the number of active teams. The nationwide effort to update continuous voter registration commenced on June 15, 2026, and is scheduled to continue until March 31, 2027, as part of the preparations for Angola's upcoming elections in 2027.
