Soyo/Cabinda maritime link kicks off

Mbanza Kongo – The maritime link between Soyo (Zaire) and Cabinda was opened on Tuesday with a catamaran-type vessel, with the ticket being sold at 15,000 Kwanzas.

With an average of two trips/day and two weekly frequencies, the catamaran will be able to transport up to 600 passengers between Soyo/Cabinda and vice versa.

Until today, maritime traffic between the two cities separated by the Atlantic Ocean was provided by boats without any guarantee of safety and comfort.

A freighter capable of carrying nine 20-foot containers and 10 vehicles is also available on the same route.

The Soyo river terminal was inaugurated last Wednesday, April 20, by the Minister of Transport, Ricardo de Abreu.
