Luanda: The National Land Transport Agency (ANTT) announced on Monday the increase of shared taxi fare from 200 kwanzas to 300 kwanzas per trip as of July 7 after the increase of the price of diesel from 300 to 400 kwanzas on July 4.
According to Angola Press News Agency, the price of urban bus services (Regular Urban Passenger Transport) has increased from 150 kwanzas to 200 kwanzas per trip, while the price of inter-municipal services will be determined by the Local State Administration Bodies based on established criteria adapted to each route's operational reality.
The ANTT explained that the update to public transportation fares is due to the recent adjustment to the retail price of diesel on July 4, 2025, and that the measure aims to ensure the operational balance of transport companies and the continuity of services provided to the population.
The ANTT further clarified that these adjustments comply with legal regulations in force. Whenever fuel prices adjust and the change does not exceed the reference values used to calculate fares, the fares should not change. This maintains stability for users since operating costs continue to be covered.
The agency reiterated its commitment to providing accessible, efficient, and sustainable public transportation, and appealed to the understanding of all citizens in view of the global economic context in which it operates.
