Luanda – Turkey is open to strengthening cooperation with Angola focused on trade exchanges, said Monday the Head of State of that country, Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
Speaking at National Assembly, as part of a two-day official visit to Angola, Recep Tayyip Erdogan predicted his country’s plan to
reach, in the short term, more than USD 200 million in trade with Angola.
Annual trade between the two countries stands at USD 134 million.
He said that Turkey intends to be a privileged partner of Angola in the exploration of mineral resources.
Addressing the special session of the Angolan Parliament, the Turkish Head of State announced his country’s commitment to training the African professionals in Turkish universities.
Recep Tayyip Erdogan revealed that in December this year his country will host the 3rd Turkey–Africa Summit, as part of the strengthening of relations with the Sahara south states.
According to him, 43 African countries’ Embassies are based in Ankara, while Turkey has diplomatic representations in 37 African States.
Bilateral diplomatic relations between Angola and Turkey date back to 1980 and the two countries have cooperation agreements in the areas of trade, agriculture, education, culture, defence, justice, transport and sport.
In Angola, Turkey has investments in the provinces of Luanda and Uíge, in the areas of industry, commerce, education and civil construction.
