TURKEY’S PRESIDENT ENDS VISIT TO ANGOLA

Luanda – President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan Tuesday returned to his country after a three-day state visit to Angola, at the invitation of his counterpart João Lourenço.

In Luanda, the Turkish statesman met with the Angolan President, João Lourenço, in addition to having participated in a solemn plenary meeting of the National Assembly, convened in his honour.

The two Heads of State presided over the official Angola/Turkey conversions that culminated in the signing of cooperation agreements, memoranda of understanding and a cooperation protocol.

The Turkish leader also visited the Dr. António Agostinho Neto Memorial, where he placed a wreath of flowers in the sarcophagus of the first President of Angola and Founder of the Nation.

The visit was also marked by the holding of a business forum, which resulted in the signing of agreements between businessmen from both countries.

Diplomatic relations between Angola and Turkey date back to 1980 and are supported by cooperation agreements in various fields, covering sectors such as trade, agriculture, education, culture, defence, justice and sport.

In Angola, Turkey has investments in the provinces of Luanda and Uíge, in the areas of industry, commerce, education and civil construction.
