Twenty-One Fatalities Recorded in Angola Over the Weekend

Luanda:Twenty-one individuals lost their lives and 54 were injured across Angola over the weekend in incidents reported by the Civil Protection and Fire Service (SPCB).

According to Angola Press News Agency, An incident report from the SPCB, covering the past 72 hours, indicated that 130 incidents occurred, marking an increase of 14 deaths, eight injuries, and 18 incidents compared to the previous period. Among the fatalities, 10 were suspected drownings, seven had undetermined causes, two were due to lightning strikes, and two were suspected suicides by hanging.

The report highlighted that of the injuries recorded, 42 were due to road traffic accidents, eight resulted from physical assaults, three were from the detonation of an explosive device, and one was caused by a crocodile attack.

During the same period, the SPCB conducted 146 rescue operations, including 93 pre-hospital care interventions. The service deployed a total of 2,186 firefighters and utilized 100 pieces of technical equipment, encompassing firefighting vehicles, rescue and water-rescue equipment, ambulances, motorboats, and other resources.
