UN SG special envoy for Central Africa Republic in Luanda

Luanda – The Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary General for Central African Republic Valentine Rugwabiza arrived Sunday afternoon in Luanda, for a 24-hour visit to Angola.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the special envoy of António Guterres was received at the international airport “4 de Fevereiro” by the Angolan top diplomat Téte António.

Valentine Rugwabiza visiting agenda includes meetings with several Angolan authorities.

Valentine Rugwabiza, of Rwandan nationality, was sworn in last February by the Secretary General of the United Nations.

She has worked for over 30 years on development and security issues in Africa, serving as Permanent Representative of Rwanda to the United Nations and Non-Resident Ambassador of her country to Colombia and Jamaica.

She has also served as Minister of East African Community Affairs, Member of the East African Legislative Assembly and Deputy Director General of the World Trade Organisation (WTO).
