United States wants to boost cooperation with Angola

Luanda – The Ambassador of the United States of America (USA) to Angola, Tulinabo Salama Mushingi, Tuesday in Luanda expressed his intention to boost cooperation with Angola in the social sector.

Tulinabo Salama Mushingi said he expressed this intention during an audience granted to him by the minister of State for Social Affairs, Dalva Ringote Allen, having also revealed that they discussed the identification of new areas of cooperation for the continued growth of relations between both countries, as well as learnt about the minister’s priorities aiming to harmonise the mutual interests.

During the audience, the two officials discussed the increasing cooperation in the health sector, in which they are already working on the malaria programme in six provinces of the country, with an investment of USD 19 million.

The US diplomat disclosed also that they talked about programmes to fight against HIV-AIDS and Covid-19, as well as the improvement of education.

In another audience, Dalva Ringote Allen received the Portuguese Ambassador to Angola, Francisco Alegre Duarte, who said he had assured that Portugal is a reliable partner.

Both personalities focused on the agenda related to the National Human Development Plan, which is identified with Portugal’s next Strategic Cooperation Plan.

Francisco Alegre Duarte stressed that they had talked in detail about technical-vocational training and the programme for Strengthening Food and Nutritional Resilience in southern Angola.

Also on Tuesday, the minister of State for Social Affairs received the representative of the American Chamber of Commerce in Angola (AmCham-Angola), Pedro Godinho, with whom she talked about issues such as the economic diplomacy developed by the Head of the Angolan Government, João Lourenço.

The president of the Twin Cities of Houston and Luanda, Fátima Benge, was also present in the same audience. She presented her projects in education, sports, health, environment, economic development and humanitarian aid.

She explained that she had taken the opportunity to invite Angola to the summit to be held from 20 to 24 February, this year in South Africa, with all the African countries and American cities that have twinned with the continent.

Dalva Ringote Allen also received the Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to Angola, Khalid Ali Alhosani, who gave no statements to the press at the end of the meeting.
